Blog #9

http://www.edutopia.org/world-your-fingertips

The article that I found is called “The World at Your Fingertips.” This website discusses the appropriate uses of technology in homes, schools, and other settings. The article informs people that the use of electronic media can help students achieve more throughout their education. The article was very interesting and discussed many different important situations. For example, if children are taught technology at a young age they are most likely going to succeed more in the future. Many jobs today and in the future require technology for communication, information gathering, and problem-solving. In the classroom, technology brings more interesting and diverse materials. Computer-based tools aid students to learn in a deeper more instant way. The article mainly talks about richer materials for learning, using time differently, and professional development. The article also mentions blogs and wikis’s and how they produce a class interactive page where the class can communicate with one another. Furthermore, technology allows students learning to be enabled by imagination. Overall, this article brought up some very good points for technology in the classroom and how it can be used.

This article sounds like it would be very interesting and helpful. I agree with what the article said about students being more successful if able to use technology. I also like that your article offers integration strategies because this is very helpful for teachers. I think that sometimes teachers just don't know how to incorporate technology into their curriculum, so they simply don't. Did your article have any cons about technology integration? It's always good to look at both ends of the spectrum. Good job!!!

The article sounds like it offers students as well teachers and family members how to integrate software into their lives. It not only offers teachers insight on how to include technology into the class but also in homes which will allow children to get extra practice on advancing their skills which could be used later in their schooling. Did the website offer any programs that could be used in the classroom? It would be interesting to see what type of software could be used in the classroom as well as at home. This would allow the child and parents to work on homework problems together or to practice creative writing. It seems like this website would be a great tool for teachers to get ideas on different types of integrating strategies.

I think that the article you found was very interesting and it is also helpful for teachers. I think it is great that it talks about things that we can relate to such as blogs and wikis. I completely agree with the part that talks about how technology is becoming more and more a part of our daily lives. This is why it is so important for students to learn how to do various projects on computers. Great article.

I really like this article because it gives information not only for the classroom but for the home and other settings. I agree that if children are taught technology at an early age it will help them in the future. When children become older they are required to use technology more and more in the school setting and their careers or jobs may require the use of technology too. I definitely think the article brings up a great point of view of technology for children.

I found it interesting that the article noted that schools are lagging when it comes time to the use of technology in the classroom. I have found that, in all of the classrooms I have observed in, that many of the classes rarely use the computers and the computers provided are no where near new. Because they are not new, they run slow and many of the newer programs cannot be used on them. Is it fair for there to be standards to include technology when the technology provided in the classroom is not nearly up to date?

The article brings up some good points. I never really considered indepth the impact of integrating technology into how we present content and teach the children and the impact this can have on their future and their success later in life. That's amazing! I've watched the videos that talk about the importance of technology in the world and how we should integrate it into the classroom, but reading that children who learn about and use technology at a young age do better in the future based on jobs, etc. really made an impression on me. It makes sense that if children don't learn about technology and how to keep up with this rapidly changing world that revolves around technology then it will be harder for them to catch up and be successful in the future when the work force demands that they know the skills needed to use the latest technology.

Your article brings up many interesting points. Many of today's jobs do require some aspect of technology. However, by the time our early childhood students reach adulthood most of the technology they learned when they were younger will become obsolete. Technology does bring a vast array of materials that could help aid students to become motivated in their learning. We just have to teach them not to rely on it.
